Bellingham Sail and Power Squadron
Personal Information Privacy Policy
Bellingham Sail and Power Squadron (BSPS) uses a variety of methods to communicate with its members and the public to further the goals of the organization.
Internal communications (membership roster, meeting minutes, etc.) may contain personal information (e.g. name, photograph, phone number, email address, home address, etc.), but in public communications (e.g. Bell Signals, Facebook, website, etc.) the use of personal information is minimized, favoring the use of generic information.
For example, rather than use an event chair’s personal email address ([email protected]) in a public communication, a generic address ([email protected]) is used for contact purposes. BSPS places very high importance on your privacy and you can be confident that personal information is treated with the utmost care and confidentiality. This means we will not sell, publish or share data that identifies you without your explicit permission.
Members can choose to not have any of their personal information published in BSPS communications by notifying the BSPS Secretary, in writing (email acceptable), of their desire to opt out of using their personal information in all squadron communication. The Secretary will maintain a list of members who opt out and notify people in charge of various communication channels (Bell Signals, website, Facebook, etc.) about the members who have opted out. Every effort will be made to avoid the use of personal information for members who have opted out.
Members can change their decision to opt out or not opt out at any time by notifying (in writing) the BSPS Secretary of their choice.
Group photography, including all students, of classroom events coincident to a course or seminar may be taken for public relations purposes. For people 17 years of age and younger, the signature of a parent or guardian is required as approving inclusion of the minor-aged student in such photography or any other photography used in BSPS communications.
If you feel that we are not abiding by this policy, you should contact us immediately via the webmaster.
